MACSS Consultants are accredited Federal Safety Officers (FSOs) contracted to the Office of the Federal Safety Commission (OFSC).

The role of Federal Safety Officers is to act as third party auditors, conducting on site auditing of companies seeking accreditation or who are currently accredited seeking reaccreditation under the Australian Government Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme.

To achieve accreditation, applicants must satisfy the following FSC Scheme criteria:

  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to manage construction hazards and high risk activities.
  • Have Site Audits conducted.
  • Demonstrated Senior Management Commitment to OHS/WHS.
  • Integration of safe design principles into the risk management process.
  • Whole of project WHS/OHS consultation and communication.
  • Demonstrated effective subcontractor WHS management arrangements across building and construction projects.
  • Whole of project performance measurement.
  • WHS training and competency to deal with safety risks.

Once these systems are in place and implemented, the OFSC will send an auditor to your office to undertake an audit at desktop level of your systems and also onsite to audit the implementation of those systems.
